Lost Soul Aside, an upcoming PlayStation 5 game, was one of the stand-out trailers during the February State of Play. It’s a bold new RPG and the debut title from developer Ultizero Games and it is being published by PlayStation itself. Its first flashy trailer and exciting gameplay captivated fans from the get-go, showcasing a unique and ambitious vision that feels reminiscent of Stellar Blade and similar action titles. It’s been generating a lot of buzz, with fans eager to learn when it comes out, what type of gameplay they can expect, and what the story will entail.
While the State of Play was missing huge reveals, fans would have loved to have seen, Lost Soul Aside more than made up for it. Since its initial reveal, lots of details have come to light regarding the kind of experience players can expect to have. There isn’t long to wait until people can finally play it for themselves, as Lost Soul Aside is set to release in 2025 alongside many of PlayStation’s other exciting upcoming RPGs. However, there is plenty of information players need to know about it before they should jump in.
Lost Soul Aside Release Date & Platforms
It’s Coming To PS5 & PC
Lost Soul Aside is releasing on Friday, May 30, 2025, which is roughly three and a half months after its trailer during the February State of Play. That means that players won’t have to wait long before they can get their hands on it and play it for themselves. Lost Soul Aside has been in development for over 10 years, with it initially being created by just one person, Yang Bing. Since then, it has expanded dramatically, in large part thanks to the partnership between the developer and PlayStation, making it one of the most-anticipated PS5 games of 2025.
Lost Soul Aside will be available for PC and PS5 on launch day, which is great for those who haven’t picked up a PS5 yet. PlayStation is porting to PC more than ever before, with a lot of its first-party offerings making their way to platforms like Steam. It is great to see its excellent games become accessible to a wider pool of players, especially since it rectified its PSN PC woes. Lost Soul Aside coming to PC on day one is a great step in Sony’s efforts to bring more of its games to PC sooner rather than later.

Lost Soul Aside Gameplay & Trailer
It’s An Adventure RPG
Lost Soul Aside sees players exploring linear environments as the game’s protagonist, Kaser, using a variety of traversal methods, including a surf-board-esque device and even wings. Aided by his dragon-like companion, Arena, Kaser can venture off the beaten path to discover hidden secrets, or tackle the game’s many challenging combat encounters with his variety of skills and shape-shifting main weapon. Kaser’s weapon is extremely versatile, capable of being used as a basic sword, to shoot out long-ranged attacks, let him dart around a combat arena, and so much more.
Lost Souls Aside’s trailer showcased mostly story details, but there’s a lot of the game’s stunning and unique environments thrown in there, as well as some of the spectacular boss fights. These are the main focus of the game, with each one being its own set piece, including one against a giant dragon. Each boss fight will require the player to adapt and think of new strategies, and utilize the available combos alongside Arena’s various abilities. Lost Soul Aside is very much an action RPG with a huge focus on stylish animations and effects.
There are customizable loadouts, unlockable skills, combos to learn, and various enemy types to encounter. It looks like a mix of Devil May Cry, Nier Automata, and Stellar Blade, with a pinch of Final Fantasy’s visual style. For those who want a combat-focused RPG, Lost Souls Aside seems to fit that bill perfectly. While it’s obviously too early to tell, Lost Soul Aside has the potential to be one of the best action RPGs in recent memory, maybe even stacking up against Stellar Blade. It all looks incredibly impressive, especially considering it was largely developed by one person.
Lost Soul Aside Story Details
It’s A Story Of Saving Humankind
When it comes to Lost Soul Aside’s story, there aren’t a lot of details. According to the game’s PlayStation Blog post – written by Yang Bing himself – Lost Soul Aside follows the journey of Kaser as he attempts to rescue his sister and prevent humankind from being destroyed by otherworldly forces. He also has to deal with Arena, the dragon-like demon that’s following him around and talking to him, and the power that they share. According to Bing, Lost Soul Aside is about “redemption and discovery” with plenty of “high-stakes conflicts“, “memorable moments“, and, most importantly, lots of “gasp-worthy” scenes.
Lost Soul Aside takes place in a fantasy sci-fi universe with a lot of unique environments to explore. From ruined temples to sprawling otherworldly environments, it looks like there’s a lot of variety when it comes to the types of places Kaser will have to explore. Players will also meet a variety of characters, many of which have been shown off in the game’s trailers, including its central villain whom Kaser will go toe-to-toe with. RPG fans can definitely expect a lot of stylish cutscenes and heightened drama as they play through Lost Soul Aside.
