Publisher Nacon has announced a new JRPG by French developer Midgar Studios, and it’s titled “Edge of Memories.” This is set in the same universe as the 2021 RPG Edge of Eternity.
Nacon not only released a reveal trailer for the upcoming game that features snippets of gameplay but also revealed that Midgar Studios is working with some big names in the JRPG development scene.

Edge of Memories Has People Behind NieR, Xenoblade And More Behind It
In the press release sent, Nacon announced that this third-person action-RPG is being created in collaboration with character designer Raita Kazama (Xenoblade Chronicles X), writer Sawako Natori (NieR), singer Emi Evans (NieR/ NieR: Automata), as well as composers Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger/Xenogears) and Mariam Abounnasr (Xenoblade Chronicles 3 / ONINAKI).
Now that’s an insane ensemble cast of developers to have working on your JRPG!
In development using Unreal Engine 5, Edge of Memories’ story details revealed so far: “This new installment takes place on the continent of Avaris, where a plague called the Corrosion turns wildlife and humans into abominations. Eline, a young itinerant Soul Whisperer, roams the land, using her fantastic abilities to heal the tormented inhabitants. Developed with Unreal® Engine 5, Edge of Memories immerses players in the heart of an exciting epic that pays tribute to the JRPG genre. The game features a vibrant and colorful world, as well as a story that explores powerful themes such as the exodus of peoples, a world plagued by disease, the quest for origins, and the need to adapt to an ever-changing environment.”
Players can expect dynamic gameplay, real-time combat, an “action-oriented expeirence” where players will chain combos with two companions, and “awaken the devastating power of the Berserk that lies dormant within” game protagonist Eline.

Hopefully, this means that with these big names helping make the game, the RPG will fare better than Edge of Eternity, which is currently sitting at a mediocre 44% critical recommendation on Open Critic.
Edge of Memories will be released in Fall 2025 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
